In the beginning…

You reached for each other without thinking.

You shared things you hadn’t told anyone else.

Lovemaking was passionate, exciting, spontaneous — and frequent.

You felt seen. Desired. Understood.

Finally, someone truly got you.

A couple holding each other close in a tender, intimate moment

But months — or years — later…

A couple at a table, distracted by phones and daily life

You still love each other.

But now most conversations are about shopping, childcare and calendars.

You kiss goodbye.

You sleep beside each other.

Yet somehow, you’ve started living parallel lives.

Nothing dramatic happened.

Life simply took over.

You’re probably not broken. You’re probably just lost.

No one plans to become distant. It happens quietly. A promotion. A new baby. Long commutes. Full calendars. Stress.

The relationship doesn’t fall apart. It just becomes practical. Conversations turn into logistics. Affection gets less spontaneous. Intimacy slips down the list — not because love has gone, but because life took over.

Most couples assume this means something is wrong. Usually it doesn’t. It means you’ve reached a stage almost every long-term relationship passes through.

The difference between couples who drift apart and couples who grow closer isn’t luck. It’s knowing how to find their way back.

Same closeness, different doors

He and she often want the same closeness — through different doors.

Most couples don’t want different things. You reach for the same thing — to feel wanted, safe, and truly close — but you tend to lead through different doors.

Physical door

One partner often feels the distance first as a lack of physical closeness. Touch, desire, being wanted — that’s the door back to feeling connected.

meet in the middle

Emotional door

The other often feels it first as a lack of emotional closeness. Being understood, feeling safe, being met — that’s their door back.

Here’s the trap: when you’re each waiting for the other to walk through your door first, both of you end up standing in the cold. This course teaches you both doors — so you stop waiting, and start meeting in the middle.

The framework

Every relationship follows a journey.

The question isn’t whether your relationship changes. It’s whether you know where you are when it does.

Over time, every relationship moves through recognisable patterns. The thrill of discovery gives way to familiarity. Responsibilities crowd out spontaneity. Confidence quietly becomes assumption.

None of this means your relationship is failing. It means you’re human.

The Intimacy Map brings together psychology, neuroscience and long-term relationship research into one simple picture. Instead of asking “What’s wrong with us?”, you start asking “Where are we?” That single shift changes everything.

The Intimacy Map — cycle of relationship stages

A synthesis of research from leading relationship experts.

What finding your way back can feel like

Imagine feeling like a couple again.

Talking because you’re interested in each other — not only because something needs organising.

Coffee going cold because you’re still talking.

Flirting in the kitchen. Reaching for each other without overthinking it.

Touch that feels easy, playful and wanted.

Feeling like lovers and teammates again.

Not a return to the beginning.

Something more conscious, more honest — and built to last.

The Intimacy Map helps you understand where you are, and what will help you move closer again.

The Intimacy Compass

See where you are today

When you join, you both complete a short, in-depth questionnaire. Not a personality test. Not another compatibility quiz. A clear read on where your relationship is right now — so the course meets you exactly where you are.

The Intimacy Map

A step-by-step path forward

A guided course that helps you rebuild emotional and physical closeness through practical exercises, honest conversations and a clear path forward.

Together they give you something most couples never have: a shared understanding of where you are, and where you’re going next.

The six-stage Map shows where your relationship is. The five-stop course gives you the route forward.

Inside the course

The route, in five stops.

Five steps, delivered across seven short on-demand video modules on Teachable - around 2-3 hours of video total, plus about 30 minutes of homework per module.

  1. STOP 01

    Where are we?

Understand your relationship’s current stage on the Map — together.

  2. STOP 02

    Why we drift

The simple science of routine, stress and desire — and what to do about it.

  3. STOP 03

    Turning towards each other again

Rebuild emotional closeness and honest conversation without the same old fight.

  4. STOP 04

    Rebuilding attraction

Playfulness, anticipation and physical closeness — from wanting to being wanted.

  5. STOP 05

    Making it last

Keep from drifting again. A rhythm you can actually sustain.

Honest fit

Is this for you?

This is for you if…

  • You’ve been together a few years and love each other, but feel more like teammates or flatmates than lovers.
  • Life is full — work, business or kids — and closeness keeps slipping down the list.
  • You want practical steps, not therapy and not vague advice.
  • You’re comfortable with a course shaped mainly by our experience working with heterosexual couples.

This probably isn’t for you if…

  • You’re still in the early, effortless phase.
  • You’re looking for crisis counselling or help with a relationship in serious trouble.
  • You want quick tricks rather than a real — if enjoyable — bit of practice together.
  • You want a course built specifically around a same-sex relationship - our examples and language mostly reflect our experience with heterosexual couples.

Kieran gave me perspectives that would never have occurred to me — and they had an instant impact when I applied them in my relationship. I wish someone had told me these things before. Could have saved me from two divorces.

Questions

Before you join

When does it start?

You can pre-order now. The first module opens on 5 August, then a new one each week. Once a module drops, it’s yours on-demand.

How much time does it take?

Around 2–3 hours of video across the whole course, plus about 30 minutes of homework per module.

Do we both have to do it?

It works best together. Some activities you do solo first, then share.

Is it explicit?

No. It’s warm and practical — about closeness and desire, not graphic content.

Is this therapy?

No. It’s a practical course, not counselling.

What if we join after 5 August?

Every module released so far is available immediately, on-demand.

What platform is it on?

The course is hosted on Teachable. You get login access when you join.

What’s the live Q&A?

A bonus for the first 20 couples to sign up: four weeks of live sessions with Kieran & Olga.

Is this course only for heterosexual couples?

No. The course is open to anyone who feels the approach is relevant to their relationship. However, it has been shaped mainly by our own experience as a heterosexual couple and by the couples we have worked with. Many of the principles around communication, emotional closeness, attraction and rebuilding intimacy are widely applicable. At the same time, we do not want to claim expertise in relationship dynamics outside the areas where we have the most experience. Same-sex couples are very welcome to join, but should know that many of the examples and some of the language reflect heterosexual relationships.

You’re not failing. You’ve just drifted into a stage.

The Intimacy Map shows you the way back. Course open 5 August. Pioneer price £77 for the first 72 hours.
